"I believe we simply have to give back to the next generation and hope that they will be as lucky as we've been," says Mary Coote. Through a joint decision, Mary, her husband Adrian, and their children provided the Community Foundation of Oakville with the Coote Family Trust, based on the fact that the CFO makes it easy for fund holders to invest. "The CFO provides a simple and proficient way of giving back so we can make a difference easily in our local community," explains Mary. They liked the idea that they could place their trust One way they know where the money goes is by being involved. Adrian has volunteered with the CFO since its early inception. When introduced to the organization's vision, Adrian immediately asked, "How can I help this new venture grow in my community?" The Cootes continue to respect the Foundation's vision and accomplishments, and Adrian, former board chair, has been very active this year in his role as past chair through his involvement on various committees and with the Marathon of Golf fundraising event. Mary, a stay-at-home mom, wanted their children to grow up with the understanding that Oakville is a good community, which gives back to its own. That is why their trust is in the family name.
