The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday June 3, 2006 - 15 Region's larviciding program has begun The Region recently began applying larvicide to bodies of standing water throughout Halton to control the West Nile virus. The product is used in Halton's urban areas where mosquito larvae have been found. Signs indicating pesticide use are placed once larvicide has been applied to a site. Monitoring of catch basins for larvae on public property in the region's urban areas has also commenced. When mosquito larvae are discovered, the catch basins will be treated weekly.
