On Saturday, the YMCA of Oakville's camp staff will volunteer their time to wash cars in order to raise money for Give Kids the Chance, the Y's annual giving campaign. Give Kids the Chance provides fee assistance for YMCA of Oakville Two car wash locations on Saturday throw a ball and splash in a pool with friends on a beautiful summer day is a luxury for many Oakville children, and in many cases these are the children who could benefit the most. They may not have swimming pools in their backyards or own the latest in roller blades and skateboards; sometimes their only outlet is hanging out at the mall. In 2005, the YMCA of Oakville provided fee assistance for 227 children to attend summer camp, and in 2006 there are even more children on the list. So come on out and clean your car for kids! Support the Y counselors who believe in camp for all kids...not just the privileged few. They know the difference that a week at camp can make for a child in need.
