4- The Oakville Beaver, Friday June 9, 2006 Classified advertising just a click away Liberal leadership Online request form makes buying a classified advertisement easier The Oakville Beaver's classified advertising department has recently gone surfing. A new online classified advertising request form offers customers the flexibility of submitting a classified ad 24 hours a day, seven days each week. The form is accessible through any of Metroland's Halton-area newspaper Web sites including: www.burlington post.com, www.oakvillebeaver.com, www.miltoncanadianchampion.com, www.flamboroughreview.com and www.haltonsearch.com. The form allows those wishing to place a classified ad to submit basic information required for the classified advertising department to later contact the inquiring party with advertising options, a proof and an accurate quote. Information accepted online includes ad copy, category and subcategory, when the ad is to appear in the paper, which sister publications the person placing the ad is interested in having it appear -- choices include Burlington Post, Oakville Beaver, Flamborough Review, Milton Canadian Champion and Niagara This Week -- as well as additional comments or questions the advertiser would like addressed by a classified advertising consultant. Classified ads for all other affiliated Metroland newspapers can still be placed by visiting The Oakville Beaver's classified office at 467 Speers Rd. Online classified advertisers will be contacted by return e-mail, fax or telephone for final confirmation of their advertising requirements. Payments can be made by telephone with a credit card, or in person at the Burlington or Oakville offices with cheque, cash or Interac and at the Waterdown office by cheque or cash. Oakville's classified office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 pm. All online classified requests received after business hours or during weekend hours will be responded to as quickly as possible the next business day. "We're receiving an extraordinary number, 25-30 of requests daily, originating from the use of this form. The majority are new advertisers," said Sandy Lennox, director of classified advertising, Halton Media Group. The event is at RattleSnake Point Golf Club. To date, eight of the Liberal leadership candidates have either confirmed or tentatively confirmed their attendance. Gerard Kennedy, Joe Volpe, Dr. Carolyn Bennett, Hedy Fry, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Bob Rae and Stephane Dion have confirmed their attendance. Tentatively confirmed is Martha Hall Findlay. The evening starts with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. (wine service is included in the $125 ticket price) followed by the event at 7:30 p.m. Jose Zlatar, the president of the Halton Federal Liberal Association, said guests will receive hors d'oeuvres, cheeses, chocolate-covered strawberries and wine, amid a countryside venue as they meet the leadership candidates. The format of the evening will allow ticket purchasers to speak personally with each of the leadership candidates. "Normally an event of this stature would cost $500, but the Halton Federal Liberal Association and the candidates want to make this event accessible to as many Halton residents interested in the democratic process as possible," said Zlatar. The portion of the ticket price that exceeds the cost qualifies for the Political Tax Credit. RattleSnake Point Golf Club is located at 5407 Hwy 25, Milton. To purchase tickets, contact Jose Zlatar at 905-257-6274; Amrit Rai at 416-562-8770; or Don McGowan at 905-2571600.
