OAKVILLE CAMPUS NOW OPEN! Pool party ends in brawl Three Oakville youths are facing numerous charges including assault with a weapon in connection with last weekend's west end pool party turned bad. According to Halton Regional Police, a Riverview Street resident was hosting a pool party last Saturday and shortly after 1 a.m. someone threw a rock into the pool from the park that backs onto the property. One of the guests at the party went to the rear fence and had words with the youths responsible. One of the youths then tried to strike the guest with a beer bottle before they left. An hour later the youths returned with more friends, several of them armed with baseball bats, beer bottles and an imitation handgun (pellet gun). As this group began assaulting the guests, several rounds were fired from the pellet gun. No one was struck. Three guests, two men and one woman, were injured after being struck by the youths wielding the baseball bats before police were called. The suspects fled on foot into Mohawk Park and Chalmers Park. Police responded and the area was contained by uniform officers. The police K9 Unit and the onduty Tactical Rescue Unit attended and conducted a search of the area but no suspects were located. All three victims were taken to OTMH for medical attention. One victim received a skull injury that required surgery to repair but all are expected to recover. As a result of the police investigation, three teenagers were arrested. Alexander Ratcliffe, 19, of Schoolmaster Circle, is charged with possession of weapons dangerous to public and two counts of breach of probation. John (Jake) Michaud, 19, of Mohawk Road, is charged with assault causing bodily harm and possession of weapons dangerous to public. Andrew Masotti, 18, of Trevor Drive is charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon. All three are set to appear in Milton Court on July 11. Detectives are continuing their investigation and it is anticipated that more arrests will be made/ Police advise that if a party you are attending or hosting is interrupted by uninvited guests please follow these three simple steps: · Call the police to remove them and do not take matters into your own hands. · In the event they leave, the police should still be called to ensure they have left and will not return. · Parents or a responsible, sober person should be in charge of the party and available to oversee the function at all times to ensure order.
