While doing so, his vehicle struck the woman walking north across the intersection. The woman was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital and at press time remained in critical condition. Police say road and weather conditions were good at the time of the accident, although a power failure in the area put the traffic lights out of commission and drivers wee treating the intersection as a four-way stop.
