Join Richard Messer, BIA chair and the board of directors as they raise the Canadian flag in Heritage Square at noon. Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn will make opening remarks and initiate a cake-cutting ceremony. There will be live entertainment for both the young and the young at heart. See local artists in action, experience henna tattooing with Bert Jackson, and hear local musicians. Light refreshments will be available, with the proceeds going to Kerr Street Ministries for its continued support of youth. The festivities will move south on Kerr -- between Rebecca Street and Lakeshore Road) which will be closed off from 2 - 6 p.m. There's a full lineup for the afternoon which includes skateboard demonstrations courtesy of Hustler Skateboards and kids on Kerr can enjoy a little face painting in sync with the Canada Day theme. Thus begins an invitation from Kerr Street Ministries (KSM) to hear real-life stories from local at-risk youths living in poverty at a barbecue and silent auction to be held on Tuesday.
