Pre-game activites begin at 6 p.m. with a 7 p.m. kick off. The Play Soccer initiative will also be part of the event. The interactive soccer zone, supported by the Ontario Soccer Association and Everton FC, includes challenges such as the fastest kick, accuracy zone, soccer obstacle course, and 5-on-5 mini-games. The international friendly is part of Everton's eight-day, four-match Ontario tour. The Liverpool-based team finished second in the FA Nationwide Women's Premier League with a record of 14-2-2. Among the players to watch for on Everton are Rachel Unitt, who was named England's international player of the year and won a W-League championship with the New Jersey Wildcats in 2005, and midfielder Fara Williams, a national team player who has the ability to turn a game with her passing skills. The Storm is coming off an impressive season that included competing in the national women's club championship in October. Oakville also captured the Ontario Women's Soccer League and Ontario Cup championships. Though it has a younger squad this season, most of its players play at the U.S. college or Ontario university level. The first 200 people to buy a ticket will receive a free ticket to watch the Oakville Storm play against the Toronto Lady Lynx, July 19 at Centennial Stadium. Admission is $10 for adults and youths, $5 children 14-and-under, and free for Oakville Soccer Club players. -- Herb Garbutt can be reached at sports@oakvillebeaver.com.
