www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday July 5, 2006 - 15 New women's networking group formed for Oakville and Burlington Xposay ­ Fabulous Women in Business ­ a new women's networking group, attracted more than 60 women to its inaugural event in May at the La Costa Restaurant in Burlington. "We had an amazing response to our first event...just incredible," said founder Janice Clarke, a realtor. "There is obviously a strong desire for women to be able to promote themselves in a way that feels safe. "I think we've achieved this so far. We provided a casual setting where women walked in alone or with a friend and made new contacts and some even made new friends," said Clarke. Women came from Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton and surrounding areas. "We had everything from realtors and corporate saleswomen to insurance brokers and small retail owners," continued Clarke. "Some women had just given birth to an idea and were coming to find business advice and support from fellow businesswomen." Xposay's philosophy is for women to `Xpose' their business, `Xcellerate' their potential, `Xperience' the power of making connections and `Xpress' themselves. "We don't charge heavy fees and there is no set agenda for the evening. Women mingle, have a cocktail or sit down to eat. We give them the opportunity to display their business cards and brochures. They have full control over their own time while at an Xposay event," explained Clarke. "We've already been told by many who attended our first event that they are definitely coming back and they intend to bring a friend or two. We are very excited about that prospect," she said. Xposay will be hold networking events every two months alternating between Oakville and Burlington. The next gathering takes place on the patio of the Lighthouse Restaurant, 2340 Ontario St. in Oakville. If it rains, the event moves indoors. Guitarist Karen Agro will entertain. Cover charge is $5.
