It's the second annual Mercedes-Benz Oakville Autohaus Easter Seals Regatta. All proceeds will help local children with physical disabilities and their families purchase expensive mobility and communications equipment, in addition to sending kids to camp. Local boaters will take to the water in this signature fundraising event that is expected to raise over $35,000. Joining the dozens of local boaters, Easter Seals kids and families will be Chris Cayley, Regatta Committee Chair; Bill Croft of the Oakville Power Boat Club; Susan Smith, District Manager for Halton Region, The Easter Seal Society, Ontario; and, Evan Armstrong, Oakville Easter Seals Kid. The regatta is a day of fun on Lake Ontario for Easter Seals kids from across Halton, their families, and local boaters representing the Oakville Club, the Oakville Powerboat Club, Oakville Yacht Squadron and Bronte Harbour Yacht Club. Easter Seals kids and their families will cruise Lake Ontario before boaters race in the regatta. Other event sponsors include Rogers, Sleeman's, Jackson Triggs, Pioneer, the Oakville Kiwanis Club, the Oakville Professional Firefighters' Association, Rotary Clubs of Oakville, the Oakville Powerboat Club and the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club. The fun kicks off at the Oakville Power Boat Club at 150 Water St. The kids cruise is at 12:30 p.m. and the race begins at 1 p.m. Tory holds meet and greet on Sunday John Tory, Leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party will visit Oakville on Sunday, July 9. Tory will stop in downtown Oakville at the Towne Square, located at Lakeshore Road East and George Street from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Oakville will be an important riding in the October 2007 provincial election. This Meet John Tory event will allow the PC leader to meet the people of Oakville and discuss matters that are important to the town. According to organizers, this won't be a campaignstyle rally, but a meet-the-leader event. There won't be political speeches from the podium, there won't even be a podium.
