Continued from page 26 century-old brick walls and will boast gilded mirrors, chandeliers and a new floor, among other additions. "It will be a contrast between the rustic of the brick and the elegance of the mirrors and chandeliers," said John of the new, "textured look." "We're really excited about it," added Brenda. "We're trying to bring the building back to its glory." The last renovation at Barrington's was in 1998. John and Brenda felt it was time for another change and decided to see whether they could feature some of the old brick to give the store an older look and showcase the historical building. "We didn't know what shape the brick was in, but we're very happy with what we found when we started dig- ging," said Brenda. "It's beautiful." Aside from the archway and mural at the entrance, Barrington's will be completely revamped come September. "We definitely growing, definitely expanding," said John, who noted the workshop area has been reconfigured and pushed further back in the building to allow for more retail space. Barrington's final blow-out sale is during Midnight Madness on July 21, and a grand re-opening is expected to be scheduled in September. This is a new demonstration program for employees of the Halton Regional Centre and the Woodlands Operation Centre designed to reduce single occupant vehicle trips to and from work by offering supports and incentives for carpooling and other alternate modes of transportation. Another Smart Commute Halton initiative is a web-based ride matching service called the Carpool Zone. This ride matching service works like a searchable database of classified ads to help residents find people to carpool with so they too can help reduce traffic congestion, smog and greenhouse gas emissions. Smart Commute Halton is part of Halton's Transportation Demand Management Program and Halton's Transportation Master Plan.
