10 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday August 2, 2006 www.oakvillebeaver.com SOAR with birds of prey at Bronte Creek Park Hi! My name is Karyn Gym and Health are my main interests in school, and my favourite sport is swimming. I love to listen to music, watch TV, and karaoke. On the weekends I sleep in, watch TV and relax. I have a cat named Cuddles, and one brother. Tacos and pasta are my favourite food. For volunteer work I like to help out when people need help. I'm not sure what to do with my points. On Saturday, Aug. 5, SOAR will be presenting its Birds of Prey education program at the Bronte Creek Provincial Park campground amphitheatre at 7 p.m. SOAR is a private education team; and is striving to reach new heights in Environmental Education. SOAR is dedicated to presenting Birds of Prey to the public in the hopes of inspiring an appreciation, which will lead to the conservation of these amazing creatures and their habitat. With over 15 years of teaching experience, quality programs have been offered to thousands of participants. The presentation at Bronte Creek Provincial Park will be filled with interesting facts about hawks, owls and falcons. Visitors can have a closer look at some live birds of prey, closer than you would ever get in the wild. Find out what is threatening these masters of the sky and what can be done to protect them. The program begins at 7 p.m. Visitors are to meet at the amphitheatre in the campground area. Bring your cameras but please no dogs. Entry into the park is $12 / vehicle. There are reduced rates for Ontario seniors and disabled. Daily Vehicle Permits can be purchased at the gate entrances. There is no additional fee for program participation once a Daily Vehicle Permit has been obtained. Spruce Lane Farmhouse is open daily in August 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and the Nature Centre from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Other upcoming events at Bronte Creek Provincial Park include British Car Day on Sept. 17. For more information on park events call 905-827-6911, ext. 556 or visit www.BronteCreek.org. This program is being offered in the campground area, which must be accessed off Bronte Road and Upper Middle Road. Take Exit 111 off the QEW, travel north to Upper Middle Road, turn west, and head directly to the campground entrance.
