He used his two weeks of college living to learn how to cook, look into the cost of college by visiting Humber College's North campus and find sports suited to his ability. "It was weird, but great," said Blomfield who plans to become an accountant. Recurring brain tumours from age three caused deafness in his left ear, muscle weakness in his left arm and some learning difficulties. Harvey and Barbara Blomfield are pleased by their son's progress. It makes them all the more relieved to "These teens leave him have an impact home alone. on a lot of peo"I knew Jake was fine ple's lives and we because he hope in some didn't call small way to home for the have an impact past week, on theirs." even though I was eager to Marg Saliba, know how he Milton Chapter of was doing. I the Harley Owners knew it was a Group signal he was having the time of his life," said his dad. The Erinoak program is funded through private donations. The support provided by the Milton chapter of the Harley Owners Group is much like the grand entrance riders made at Wednesday night's open house. It goes on and on, like the line of bikes that rolled into the oval in front of the Sheridan College Residence and Conference Centre. In the end 24 shiny, rumbling wheels were on view for students to get an up close look. "These teens have an impact on a lot of people's lives and we hope in some small way to have one on theirs," said Marg Saliba who is the fundraising organizer for the Milton chapter. "They inspire us all and teach us all about life," she added. The Harley group fundraised $39,000 last year for the ILP and $46,000 the previous year. They are the main sponsors of the program, as well as Longo's Family Charitable Foundation. Through a poker run ride organized for Sunday, Aug. 20 and raffle tickets, the motorcycle enthusiasts hope to raise the same or more for next year's program. For more information on these fundraising efforts, call Saliba at 905- 875-0778.
