On Friday, Aug. 18 Paul Saltzman's photography show of the Fab Four opens at the Win Henstock Gallery. At age 24, Saltzman traveled to India to produce a National Film Board piece on transcendental meditation at the religious compound where meditation founder and guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi lived. Little did he know, John, Paul, George and Ringo were there at the same time. After waiting outside the gated community in Rishikesh for eight days, he was allowed in. That's when he started capturing what's now The Beatles in India photography show. It was a prolific time for the Beatles, who wrote 48 songs in less than eight weeks during that period. Along with the photography, Saltzman will be sharing stories at the opening. Saltzman's work was recently shown at Erchless Estate in a show sponsored by The Invidiata Team Re/Max as a fundraiser for Kidsfest Canada, a charity that helps fund the education of children from low-income families. The Win Henstock Gallery, 334 Lakeshore Rd. E., will be showing his works from Aug. 18 ­ Sept. 3. The Beatles in India opening reception is Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. and includes wine, cheese and a chance to meet Satzman.
