The Valleybrook Drive resident announced her candidacy for mayor yesterday. She'll be facing stiff competition in veteran politician Mayor Ann Mulvale and local businessman Rob Burton, who fell just 28 votes short of unseating the mayor in the 2003 election. Both Mulvale and Burton had previously announced their intention to run for the mayor's seat. "After the last election it was quite clear that people were looking for a change. I think I could be that change," said Wright. Wright, who was first elected as a Town councillor in 2000 and re-elected as Ward 6's Town/Regional councillor in 2003, announced her candidacy for the mayor's seat last night. Women rugby players crusade against cancer The prom, rugby and a good cause are coming together in Oakville on Saturday. For the second year running, the Oakville Crusaders Senior Women's Rugby Club will be playing the Stoney Creek Camels decked out in prom dresses to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. "It's full contact, so we'll have our mouth guards, cleats and scrum caps on, too," said senior women's team member, Jennifer Lamarre.
