30 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday August 23, 2006 www.oakvillebeaver.com Awards night recognizes actors and volunteers Dora explores Hopedale The newly revamped Zellers store at Hopedale Mall will host Dora the Explorer and her cousin, animal rescuer Diego this Saturday. The popular children's characters from the Nick Jr. television shows will visit at the store located at 1455 Rebecca Street (just east of Third Line) from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Dora was on-hand at the store's grand re-opening last spring and was a huge hit. This time Dora will return along with her cousin Diego who stars in his own spin-off show Go Diego, Go! in which he and his sister Alicia rescue animals in trouble. Children are invited to head to Zellers to meet the characters, and their parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their cameras. Continued from page 28 gling to come to terms with her death. All of the shows are running at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. Representing the Centre at the awards night Friday was Theatre Manager Ken Coulter, who handed out the Oakville Centre Appreciation Award. "This is our opportunity to say thank you to all of you you're a big reason why the theatre was built and why it operates today," Coulter said. The award, he added, is given to someone who "embodies the spirit of cooperation, hard work, fun and joy all mixed together that is the community of the per- forming arts." John Wyman, who has contributed to every facet of the arts community, won the award this year. He was also a co-recipient of the Scott Shepherd Memorial Award, along with Brenda Worsnop. It's a new award this year and was created in memory of Shepherd, who was dedicated to the arts in Oakville in many different capacities over the years. "He is the epitome of what goes on in theatre, the giving and the giving and the giving," said Worsnop, after receiving her award. Other awards included the Colette Morgan Award for Backstage Excellence, which was given to George Thompson and Best Female Supporting Actor, which went to Maggie Luxford for her role as Emma Day in Yesteryear. The Enchanted April's DeAnna Arsenault won for Best Costumes and Chris Worsnop and Eric Babbit took home the award for Best Sound Design. Vinci also picked up a pair of awards. Kristen Pontisso won the Paddy Stewart Award for Best Female Actor for her role as Caterina and Jane Coryell won Best Set Design. Permanent makeup (a.k.a. micro-pigmentation or micro pigment implantation) is a state-of-the-art process where natural pigments are placed just under the surface of the skin. These hypoallergenic pigments are specifically designed for facial applications. Who is a candidate for permanent make-up? Almost everyone, those who are allergic to traditional make-up, physically active people, those with sparse, thin or faint coloured eyebrows and lashes, people with oily skin whose make-up smears. Individuals with alopecia and recovering cancer patients can benefit from cosmetic or reconstructive tattooing. Permanent make-up may also be used to camouflage scars and help those with skin disorders such as vitiligo.
