30 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday September 1, 2006 www.oakvillebeaver.com MOHA needs volunteers for upcoming house league season With record registration numbers in nearly all its divisions, the Minor Oaks Hockey Association house league program is in dire need of volunteers for the upcoming season. Any people interested in volunteering their time to assist MOHA this year are invited to attend the association's annual house league volunteer meeting, scheduled for Thursday (Sept. 7) at the Halton Regional Police Services Headquarters building on Bronte Road. Clearances will be done at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow at 7:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to fill the following capacities: · Division conveners -- MOHA has a number of openings to fill for division conveners in both the white and blue levels. The association's revamped red/white/blue house league structure has made the divisions smaller, with most having only six teams, making the job of conveners much less daunting. A convener's position provides an honourarium roughly equal to a player registration. MOHA regulations require that a convener be on duty to allow games to be played. · Coaches -- MOHA is also looking for coaches in a number of age groups, again mostly at the white and blue levels. These levels provide a great entry-level coaching opportunity for individuals wishing to become involved in minor sports. Coaches from past years who have not yet indicated an interest for this year are asked to do so, while new volunteers with an interest are also asked to contact the association. · Sponsors -- Sponsors help keep the MOHA's costs down and can also benefit from advertising. For $500 a team, sponsors' names are put on the jerseys, the team is named after the sponsor and the team is referenced that way in all stats, notices and articles. Sponsors are also recognized during Awards Week, with a keepsake plaque, and on MOHA's website where their logos can be featured as well. Multiple-team or complete-division sponsorships are negotiable. For information or application forms for any of these roles or programs, contact the MOHA Hockey Office at 905-3389220, or visit the association's website at www.moha.on.ca. Mail can be sent or dropped off at the MOHA office, located at 1026 Speers Road, Units 8-9, L6L 2X4. Maplegrove HALTON Paint Sale NOW ON! NAN OF DAN NOO FREE !
