The keynote address will be given by Bill Osborne, President of Ford Motor Company of Canada. "This is going to be a fantastic event. It is shaping up to be the largest President's Dinner we have ever held. There has been a great deal of excitement around having Bill Osborne as our keynote speaker. The auto sector is such an important part of the local economy and there have recently been some announcements regarding major restructuring at Ford. It will be interesting to get an insider's perspective," said Chamber President Elect Stephen Sparling. "We are thrilled to have a high profile personality like Linda, who lives here in Oakville, as our emcee," said Chamber President Mary Cardamone. "Linda's background as a business journalist and advocate gives her a unique perspective on the business community, and combined with her experience as a broadcaster it makes make her an ideal emcee for our President's Dinner." Events sponsors include AMEC, Bell, Dan Lawrie Insurance, Hynek Financial, Union Gas and Cogeco, which will be televising the dinner. Tory to speak to Canadian Club The Canadian Club of Halton Peel leads off its new season with John Tory, Leader of the Ontario PC Party and Leader of the Official Opposition, as its guest speaker on Thursday, Sept. 14. This event takes place at the Oakville Conference Centre, 2515 Wyecroft Rd. (QEW & Bronte Road) and starts with a cash bar at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. The cost is students $15, members $30 and non-members/guests $40. Email: rjtpreston@cogeco.ca. His business background includes positions as Managing Partner of Torys, one of Canada's largest law firms, President & CEO of Rogers Media, CEO of Rogers Cable and a number of directorships. Tory is also a community volunteer, fundraiser and activist for such organizations as The Canadian Paraplegic Association, St. Michael's Hospital, The Salvation Army and the United Way. He has been married to Barbara Hackett for 27 years and has four children.
