www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday September 9, 2006 - 23 Still time to register for Ambassadors of Hope tourney Continued from page 22 an annual golf tournament. The 2nd annual Footsteps to Our Future Amelia and Teaghan Ambassadors of Hope Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14 at Century Pines Golf Course in Dundas. Registration for golfers will continue to Tuesday, Sept. 12, in hopes of recruiting a few more participants. Currently, about 60 golfers have registered. "Last year we had 65 golfers and we raised an incredible $18,000," said Frauley. Cost is $175 per golfer including golf, lunch and dinner, door prizes and a swag bag. Tickets for the all-you-can-eat dinner are also being sold separately for $50 each. More than 100 people attended last year's dinner. Proceeds from this tournament will be divided among McMaster Children's Hospital, Camp Trillium for children with cancer, and The Teaghan Frauley Endowment Fund at Sick Kids Hospital. "The Teaghan Frauley Endowment Fund at Sick Kids Hospital was set up and January of this year by friends and colleagues who raised $50,000," said Frauley. That money goes directly to that hospital's oncology department. If a child who was treated at McMaster relapses, they go for a bone marrow transplant at Sick Kids. Also welcome will be more tee hole sponsors for $150. "We already have 14 tee hole sponsors and we can have more than one sponsor for each hole," Frauley said. The event's major sponsors are Clintar Groundskeeping of Mount Hope and the Brady Financial Group of Burlington. The dinner will feature a silent auction featuring some 100 items ranging in $30 to $4,000 in value including a week at a cottage in Prince Edward Island, a $4,000 VIA Rail travel package for a family of four to Halifax, signed hockey sticks, gift certificates plus tickets to Raptor, Leaf and Buffalo Sabres games. Plus, there will be a team trivia contest during the tournament, with signs at each hole, to win two DVD/VCR combo machines and two Gigabeat iPods from Toshiba. Footsteps to Our Future is also selling wristbands for $3.
