www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday September 15, 2006 - 15 Still time to register for Oakville Terry Fox Run T he 26th Annual Terry Fox Run takes place this Sunday, and all Oakville residents are invited to honour Terry Fox and raise money for cancer research. Despite its name, you don't have to be a runner to participate. All are welcome to walk, bicycle, Rollerblade or run either a 5K or 10K route. Local officials are expecting a great turn-out this year with the addition of the Corporate Team Challenge to this year's Oakville Terry Fox Run. This is the first year that Oakville has had a Corporate Team Challenge, and the response has been amazing. Oakville businesses and groups have embraced the challenge, and will be joining individual participants on Sunday. The run is at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 9 a.m. at Abbey Park Secondary School, next to the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre (Third Line south of Upper Middle Road). The Opening Ceremonies are at 9 a.m. and will be hosted by Jim Paulson of AM 740. Eryl McCaffrey will lead in the singing of O Canada. Before and after the run, participants will be entertained by a talented Oakville band, The Superficials. Watch for Jeannie Jelly Beans and The Amazing Aidan walking through the crowd as well as a children's craft area with face painting. Glen and Lystra Hamilton will perform their original song Run Terry Run, written in 1980 during the Marathon of Hope. The Kinsmen will be selling "ham and eggs on a muffin" from 8:30 a.m. until noon. A limited number of Terry Fox T-shirts will be available at a cost of $15 for adults and $10 for children (6X). Pledge sheets are available at all Town recreation centres and various businesses throughout town. Registration is also available on site on the day of the Run, but come early to avoid line ups.
