www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday September 16, 2006 - 31 www.maycourt.ca The MAY COURT CLUB of Oakville Home Suite Hope The Nearly New Shop and The May Court Club of Oakville ay Court celebrated their 50th anniversary with a $50,000 donation to Home Suite Hope Shared Living, a charity that creates housing for homeless people and will expand to dedicate services to women and children. There can be no greater calling than to give freely of yourself, your time, and your commitment to help those in most dire need. Home Suite Hope Shared Living, offers essential support to people who are without a home and with nowhere left to turn in the community of Halton. Through providing adequate, affordable shelter, along with facilitated assistance in building relevant life and employment skills, along with a network of community support, Home Suite Hope allows people to rebuild their lives here, and most importantly, to build hope once again. The May Court Club of Oakville, in recognition of the dire need for these services for women and children, presented a cheque for $50,000 to the organization to ensure that Home Suite Hopes funding goals for a new facility would be on a sound foundation. A celebration of May Court's own 50th year, the funding was given in recognition of Home Suite Hope's innovative accomplishments in assisting homeless single people in our community to date. This funding is dedicated to M meeting the next Home Suite Hope goal of providing a facility to shelter and give assistance and a new beginning to families in a housing crisis. Wendy Perkins, Executive Director of Home Suite Hope Shared Living Corporation explains, "May Court's generous support for Home Suite Hope is born from our shared vision of a future facility in Oakville, where we will create not just affordable housing, but also a network of community support for families who are homeless or in housing crisis in our community. We are delighted that May Court of Oakville chose this cause in their special 50th year. Our shared belief is that our own community has the capacity to help our most vulnerable women and children to realize their potential." Having already created a successful and innovative model that currently operates for homeless men, Home Suite Hope will now focus fundraising efforts on the establishment of a facility dedicated to women and children in crisis. Through the support of May Court and other likeminded funders, homeless people in our community who all too often are made invisible will once again have the chance to begin building a life with dignity at home in the community.
