www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday September 16, 2006 - 7 Town laying groundwork for Oakville's 150th birthday celebrations Oakville will be celebrating its sesquicentennial --its 150th birthday -- next year and the Town of Oakville wants to hear from residents how they'd like to celebrate. An Oakville 150th Citizen Task Force has been established to develop a series of Town-wide special events, which will run throughout 2007 to mark the major milestone. The Task Force will meet on Sept. 20 and members of the public are invited to attend to offer suggestions for events and activities that they'd like to be part of the celebrations. The theme for the year will be "Respecting the past, celebrating the present and embracing the future." "This anniversary is a great opportunity to celebrate all things Oakville," said Francine Landry, Chair of the Oakville 150th Citizen Task Force. "We look forward to commemorating our heritage, celebrating our diversity, and taking pride in our plans for the future. In order to make this special year all it can be, we encourage Oakville residents to take an active role by sharing their ideas to help the Town plan the festivities," said Landry. The Oakville 150th public meeting will be held from 7 9 p.m. in the South Atrium at Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Rd.
