Oakville Unit volunteers will also be at Oakville Place on Oct. 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 to register participants. As a pledge-based event, there is no registration fee. Those who raise the minimum $75 or more will receive an official Canadian Cancer Society Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer shirt. Moffatt said the Unit's goal is to have at least 150 participants but, given local residents' past record of generosity, more are expected. "Oakville always comes together for a good cause," she said. If it hasn't already, breast cancer will touch you or someone you know. In Canada, over 21,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. In fact, one in nine Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is not just a woman's disease, however, but touches spouses, partners, children, parents, siblings, friends and coworkers. It's a trainer that gives support in more ways than one.
