She's the author of nine books of poetry, including Over the Roofs of the World, which was nominated for the Governor-General's Literary Award for Poetry in 2005 and was runner up for the Cuban Casa de las Americas Prize 2006. She was talking to the guy who plays the mayor about gardening," said Ross. "The whole cast came by. They all wanted to be interviewed by Barbara. "She was totally smooth and made them comfortable right away. She even brought a humongous bag of Polish candies," he added. Tuszynski asked questions like how the show's creator Brent Butt came up with the name Dog River for the show, and asked Hank what his job was supposed to be on the show. "He sort of wanders around doing nothing ­ and he said that's his job, wandering around doing nothing," she chuckled. "Emma, I asked if it was in real life, would she be able to put up with a guy like Oscar, because he's a maniac. She said, `You know what? Probably not.'" All in all, Tuszynski was happy with the experience, and came home with autographs, pictures and a lot of memories. "It was exciting. Some people go to the shrines and stuff, and I go to Corner Gas," she laughed.
