The Oakville atom AAA Rangers fell just short of advancing to the playoff round at the Kawartha Early Bird Challenge hockey tournament in Peterborough recently, posting a 2-2 record in four games. The Rangers defeated the Hamilton Reps 7-0 and Richmond Hill Stars 5-1 while falling 2-0 to the Wexford Raiders and 6-4 to the Peterborough Petes. The tournament format awarded teams one point for winning a period and two points for winning a game, and the Rangers fell half-a-point short of moving to the playoff round.
