Notice of Filing of Addendum to the 1994 Environmental Study Report Northerly (Wyecroft Road) Crossing of Bronte Creek Addendum to the 1994 Environmental Study Report In 1994, the Town of Oakville filed an Environmental Study Report (ESR) for the Northerly and Southerly Crossings of Twelve Mile Creek (now known as Bronte Creek). The ESR identified two new crossings where the northerly crossing involved the extension of Harvester Road easterly to connect to Wyecroft Road. The southerly Rebecca Street crossing was constructed and opened to traffic in 2001. The northerly or Wyecroft Road crossing was identified for implementation in the longer term. While a preferred alternative was identified in the 1994 ESR, it was also noted that this would be reviewed at a later date. Therefore, the Town of Oakville has carried out a study to review the northerly crossing and prepared an Addendum to the 1994 ESR in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) process, which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Based on the findings of the 1994 ESR and subsequent studies, the confirmation of the needs assessment, the review and update of the previously identified alternatives, potential environmental impacts and associated mitigation measures, and consultation with technical agencies and the public, the recommended alternative is Alternative N2d which is shown conceptually on the key plan below. It includes: · The construction of a new east-west 4-lane urban roadway (multi-purpose arterial road) from the intersection of Harvester Road and Burloak Drive easterly to connect to existing Wyecroft Road at Bronte Road · The construction of a new bridge crossing of both the Bronte Creek and West Tributary consisting of two bank-to-bank structures · The realignment of McPherson Road to intersect with proposed Wyecroft Road · The reconstruction of the intersections at Burloak Drive, McPherson Road, Bronte Road and South Service Road While the proposed Wyecroft Road crossing is currently scheduled for year 2015 in the Town's capital budget, (which is subject to annual Council review), the section of roadway east of Burloak Drive may be constructed earlier and in stages within approved development plans. By this Notice, the Addendum to the 1994 ESR is being placed on the public record for a 45 day public review period. Subject to comments received as a result of this Notice, the Town intends to proceed with the construction of the Wyecroft Road extension including the crossing of the Bronte Creek as outlined in the Addendum.
