According to Lisney sizing by numbers is usually misleading because every bra fits differently. "The bottom line with bras is how a woman feels wearing it, not the numbers and letters on the tag," said Lisney. Considering that the average woman's bra size changes six times during her life, due to weight loss or gain, pregnancy, and age, it's no wonder. As a result, too often women overcompensate for such an ill-fitting undergarment by over-tightening their straps, choosing too big a band or cups that gape and pucker, or alternatively ones that are too tight. Falling straps, pinching clips and too tight underwires can also lead to back and should strain. Donning a bra daily, for some women, is a necessary evil, especially if it's not a comfortable, properly sized one. As the hardest working undergarment of them all, the mighty bra deserves its due. "In a properly fitted bra women feel completely different," said Lisney.
