The bill, Bill 135, the Highway Traffic Amendment Act (Use of Portable Equipment by Novice Drivers) 2006, received second reading in the Ontario Legislature Thursday morning. "I am moving forward with this Private Member's Bill, because I think we can send an important message that driving is an activity that requires your full attention," Flynn said recently. "I think it's particularly important to ensure our newest drivers, those in the graduated licensing program are paying full attention to the road." According to the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA), distracted driving results in accidents costing not only millions of dollars in property damage annually, but sadly can result in injury and even death.
