42 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday October 20, 2006 www.oakvillebeaver.com Plenty of early success this season for Oakville atom AA Rangers It's only October, but the Oakville atom AA Rangers have already enjoyed plenty of success in both tournament and regular-season play. Last month, the Rangers reached the semifinals of a tournament in Richmond Hill, then earned gold at a competition in Peterborough. Oakville clinched top spot at the Peterborough tournament with a 3-0 win over the Oshawa Generals. The Rangers opened the scoring on a first-period powerplay, then shut down the Generals attack and added two more goals down the stretch. Goaltender Patrick Shea earned three shutouts during the tournament. The team carried that momentum into the regular season, going 3-0-1 in its first four games while outscoring its opposition 20-4. An emphasis on REPHOCKEY adjusting to tighter enforcement of the rules has paid dividends as Oakville has managed, for the most part, to stay out of the penalty box. Other members of the Rangers are Reid Blackwell, Alex Cox, Luke Mascotto, Douglas Bertrand, Logan Crozier, Patrick Enman, Chris Dumont, Zach Murray, Joel Matson, Jake Smyth, Gordon Schneider, Andrew Kew, Tanner Fabiano, Eric Gordon, Callum Fryer and Zach Moll.
