Raising the spirit of Halloween By Sabrina Byrnes OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Oakville resident Chris Oliver is endorsing community spirit this Halloween as he invites everyone to tour his house of horrors. "It's a theme park with little surprises inside," said Oliver describing his house. Oliver began his passionate hobby of Halloween decorating when he started making costumes for his son. The characters he designed as costumes turned into mannequins for his outdoor decorating. Oliver's home on Halloween will feature past and present movie characters, holograms and motion sensors as well as a walk-in haunted house through his garage. The haunted house will even feature an escape exit for ones who get too scared. Oliver said he hopes that inviting everyone to his haunted house, which is decorated in the theme of `Dracula's Castle', will promote community spirit among local residents. A drop off box for the Oakville Food Bank will also be placed at the front of the house for anyone who wishes to donate nonperishable food items. Oliver's home is located at 2272 Mowat Ave., Unit 4, for those who wish to experience the Halloween spirit.
