Bernard was born in Cornwall, Ontario in 1924. He served his country in the RCAF as a Navigator on a Lancaster Bomber during WWII, for which he was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. Bernard graduated from McGill University in 1950 in Civil Engineering, and completed a long and successful career in the pulp and paper industry. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sixty Degree Society of Oakville. Visitation was held at the Kopriva-Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr, 905-8442600), Oakville from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Tuesday, November 14th. Maurice was a WWII veteran in the Canadian Army (R.C.E.M.E.), 2nd Advanced Base Workshop. Born and raised in Oakville, he was a 4th generation Oakvillian. Married his beloved wife Kathleen "Kay" (nee Hare) of Taplow Bucks, England in May 1945 and celebrated 61 years of marriage.
