Starting January 1, 2007, Oakville Transit will be offering Timed Expired Transfers - new transfer method allowing passengers the flexibility of using one transfer within a limited time, rather than having to buy two or more one-way tickets. For example, if a passenger needs to stop off quickly at a store on their way home, or to drop their children off at daycare on their way to work, the time transfer will allow them to hop off the bus and hop on the next bus - all on one transfer - no need to pay again! HOW LONG IS THE TRANSFER GOOD FOR? The transfer is good for 2 hours from the route starting time (not the time the transfer was issued upon boarding the bus). The expiry time is indicated on your transfer. WHEN DOES THIS NEW PROGRAM START? Beginning Monday, January 1, 2007. WHEN DO I ASK FOR A TRANSFER? Ask for the transfer at the time of payment by ticket or cash fare when you board the bus. We will not issue a transfer at any other point along the route. WHAT DO I DO WITH THE TRANSFER WHEN I BOARD THE NEXT BUS? Keep your transfer to show to each driver of each bus that you board. Show the transfer to the driver for verification upon boarding each bus. AM I LIMITED TO WHERE I CAN TRAVEL, OR HOW OFTEN I CAN TRANSFER? No, this transfer is good for unlimited travel (by the person to whom it was issued), in any direction, until the expiry time on the transfer. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE TRANSFER EXPIRES? You will be required to pay an additional fare. WHY IS THIS CHANGE BEING MADE? In order to provide greater flexibility to our passengers in their travel and to encourage shorter trips that might otherwise not be taken.
