COMMUNITY HONOUR: The Oakville Optimist Club held its Youth Appreciation Night in order to recognize youths from various Oakville schools who have served their school or community with volunteer activity over and beyond that which is required of them. Honoured were, from left, Crystal Shane, Anne MacArthur, Anasuiya Surendran, Elizabeth Bracco, Karen Georgee, Emma Calger, and Zachary Goldstein. New camera club The newly formed Oakville Camera Club is ready to move to its new home -- the Program Room at the Oakville Public Library's Central Branch on Navy Street. The move will be official as of Wednesday, Jan. 10. The club will meet there at 7:30 p.m. "The central library is a positive move for the club," said Oakville Camera Club President Kieley Hickey. "We would like to thank Bill Hewitt of CPS Inkworks for helping make this possible by becoming a club sponsor," said Hickey. "We plan on expanding our programs for 2007," said Marketing Director Bill Smith. "There will be guest speakers and field trips along with our monthly assignments, critiques, technical tips, photo sharing and monthly discussions on a particular subject in photography. I will be conducting a seminar on shooting and processing black-and-white film on Jan. 10." CPS Inkworks provides lab services for the digital and film photographer in Oakville, specializing in film processing, scanning, and printing from digital files, negatives and slides. Founded in May 2006 by Hickey and Smith, the Oakville Camera Club is filling a need in the local arts community for a photography group. It meets twice a month on the second and last Wednesday. The club is open to all skill levels focusing more on education, assignments, critiques and image sharing than monthly competitions. For information visit www.oakvillecameraclub.com. 427 Speers Rd.
