The Venom, comprised of girls that played last season with the Oakville Raiders and Oakville Vytis #1 teams, won all four of its games at the competition, clinching gold with a 49-44 victory over the Niagara Falls Red Raiders in the final. Alex Thomas drained three key buckets in the second half and Syliva Mosca helped the Venom make a number of defensive stops as Oakville rallied from a three-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Amanda Perotta iced the win with a pair of free throws late in the game. Earlier in the tournament, the Venom defeated St. Catharines 50-23, Orillia 44-36 and KitchenerWaterloo 44-38. Ashara Cadogan scored 12 points and Zoe Salhia added 11 against St. Catharines, with Perotta leading the Venom with nine points against Orillia. Versus Kitchener-Waterloo, Perotta had 14 points and Lindsay Guimond contributed a number of key rebounds. Cadogan drained three three-pointers and Kathleen Harris played well defensively, limiting the effectiveness of the K-W guards.
