Thereafter, continued in the Royal Canadian Navy and held various sea and shore appointments in Halifax and Shearwater, Nova Scotia, and Ottawa and Hamilton, Ontario. After retirement from the Navy in 1965 was on the staff of McMaster University as Associate Registrar (Health Sciences) for the Faculty of Medicine from its inception. In 1980 became Administrative Officer, Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto (Clarke Institute). He was also active in several volunteer agencies in Oakville.
