Mattamy gives families a boost The Oakville Parent-Child Centre (OPCC) main location expansion got a $10,000 boost from Mattamy Homes. The funds will go toward the expansion of the office at 461 North Service Rd. "Mattamy shares our belief in the importance of creating healthy, vibrant communities," said Jill Snidal, OPCC executive director. "For over 25 years, our focus has been on supporting, nurturing and empowering families ­ the heart of every community. Through the myriad programs, courses, referrals, and counselling we offer, parents discover how to introduce early learning opportunities to their children, which help build the cognitive and social skills children need to succeed. Parents are also able to build networks and friendships, and seek advice, further enhancing their skills." According to David Stewart, President of Mattamy Development Corporation, "Mattamy is pleased to lend our support to the vital work that the OPCC undertakes as part of our commitment to giving back to the communities in which we build. Our common goal is to inspire children and to help build stronger families." "With this gift, we have raised two-thirds of the $400,000 required to complete our expansion project. Over 500 individuals, corporations, foundations, agencies and organizations have donated. This outpouring of support demonstrates how strongly people feel about the important role we play in the Oakville community," said Snidal. The new location provides the OPCC with a nursery school and program rooms that are accessible and at ground level. It replaced the location on Kerr Street, which the OPCC outgrew after 19 years.
