Wrong date for World of Threads Festival A story in The Oakville Beaver, Jan. 26 edition contained an incorrect date regarding the upcoming World of Threads Festival 2007, Oakville's Biennial Festival of Textile Arts. The festival runs Feb. 23 March 4 at Sheridan College. Speakers and workshops will be held at Sheridan from Feb. 23 March 4, and four of five Sheridan shows are on display until March 9. Both Oakville youths and adults are invited to enter their one-of-a-kind Happy Birthday to Oakville cards. The deadline for entries by mail is Feb. 9, and cards should be sent to Happy Birthday Card Contest, c/o Oakville Music & Art Shared Space, 200 North Service Rd. Non-mailed entries should be dropped off at the For the Love of the Arts Festival The Arts Celebrate Oakville's 150th Anniversary at Oakville Town Hall on Feb. 11, by 4:30 p.m. People will also have an opportunity to make their cards at the festival. All card entries must be one-of-akind and cannot include any copyrighted image or text. The content must be acceptable for general audiences and should be on an 8.5-inch x 5.5-inch card folded in half. The front cover should be 4.25-inch x 5.5-inch. Gift certificates provided by Loomis Art Store will be given to first and second place in the open category, and first and second place in the youth category. All entries will be displayed at the festival, and selected entries will be posted on the MASS website. By submitting their entry, the artist grants MASS the right to photograph their work for publicity, educational and reference purposes. Submissions will not be returned, and should include on a separate piece of paper name, phone number and category. The youth competition is for those aged younger than 15, and those entries should also include age and school. Open category is for everyone.
