Bantam AA Rangers win Silver Stick tournament The Oakville bantam AA Rangers recently won the prestigious Silver Stick hockey tournament, the team's third tournament gold of the year. Oakville defeated Flamborough 1-0 in the championship game, though the Rangers' semifinal victory may have been more exciting. In that contest, John Nardozzi deflected in a shot by Mike Scott to give Oakville a 2-1 overtime victory over the host Brampton Battallion. Will Zinkiewich, assisted by Patrick Feric, scored the other Rangers' goal against Brampton. Nick Kashty had the lone goal of the championship game, set up by Ryan McGillivray and Jasper Brand. Oakville goaltender Christopher Miniaci was voted the team's most valuable player in both games. The championship win sent the Rangers to the International Silver Stick tournament in Sarnia/Port Huron, facing tournament winners from across Canada and the U.S. Oakville was eliminated in the quarter-finals by the Mississauga Jets, who went on to win the competition. Other players on the bantam AA Rangers, who finished the regular season in second place, are Ali Binnington, Kyle Dube, David Policelli, Ian Stansfield, Conrad Hansuld, Andrew Smith, Josh Adams, Rick Bota and Jeffrey Pinto. www.oakvillebeaver.com The Ontario Varsity Football League Is proud to have as it's only member in this area the, Halton Invictas Football Club.
