www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday February 3, 2007 - 23 Former MTO clerk faces additional charges More charges have arisen from a Halton regional Police investigation into the alleged improper conduct of a former Ministry of Transportation (MTO) licensing outlet employee in Oakville. A former employee was arrested in connection with the alleged theft of customer credit and debit cards. Police first released news of the charges on Jan. 12. The licensing outlet is a privately-owned business under contract to provide services for the MTO and is located at 105 Cross Ave. The suspect, a former female clerk, was employed from May to December 2006 at the office. "As a result of the media release the Halton Regional Police Service have received several additional complaints from the public involving the same clerk. All of the victims are residents of the Town of Oakville," said Sgt. Peter Payne. Following further investigation police laid three extra charges of theft of credit cards and breach of trust against a suspect. Earlier this month, police said a female former employee was involved with processing driver's licences, validating sticker renewals and processing transactions involving customer credit cards. The police investigation resulted in allegations that four customers had their credit cards stolen. Police alleged the suspect would retain the card and the client would exit the office not realizing they had not had their credit card returned to them. Three of the victims were Oakville seniors. On Dec. 19, 2006, a male known to the suspect was arrested at Oakville Place Mall after making purchases with two of the stolen credit cards. The man was found to be the subject of a Canada immigration deportation order and was held for a bail hearing. On Jan. 9, the female suspect was arrested and is set to appear in court Feb. 6. Facing four charges of possession of stolen credit cards, three charges of using stolen credit cards, possession of stolen property and obstructing justice is Ainsley Down Taylor, 24, of no fixed address. Facing seven charges of theft of credit cards and two breach of trust is Kelly Elizabeth Jesty, 23, of Hamilton. Anyone with related information can call the Halton Police Fraud Bureau, Det.
