28 - The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday February 3, 2007 Anonymous art donor aids Auxiliary with fundraising The Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) Auxiliary is set to raffle off an original Jenny Hellers painting worth more than $5,000. White doves flutter about, as a big yellow sun shines down on a neighbourhood of families gathered around an outdoor piano to enjoy the gently falling snow. You can almost hear their singing as you are swept away into the vividly colourful, enchanting -- and somewhat dreamlike world -- created by Hellers in her enamel-on-copper painting, entitled Family Symphony. The OTMH Auxiliary is selling raffle tickets for its Feb. 16 event. The rare and unique enamel art piece, valued by conservative estimates at over $5,800, was donated to the Auxiliary for the purpose of fundraising. All proceeds of the raffle will be directed to the Auxiliary's $1.25 million pledge toward the HHS Critical Support Campaign for the MaternalChild and Diagnostic Imaging Programs. The painting was donated by an anonymous art patron and friend of the hospital to assist the Auxiliary in raising funds for the hospital. artist applies several layers of powdered enamel, enhancing details by a fine black line to create a threedimensional effect. Hellers' bright, colourful, intricate creations -- always filled with emotion and movement -- have established her as one of the leading enamellers. Hellers has participated in several group and solo exhibitions which has earned her substantial media coverage in Canada, the United States, Australia and Europe. Her work can be found in several private and corporate collections as well as in the permanent collections of both the France Musée International, and the Naïve Art Museum of Bage in France, as well as the Vaudreuil Museum and the Sherbrooke Fine Arts Museum. Hellers won the Public Award at the Fourth International Naïve Art Contest of North Hatley in 1998 and she was the chosen artist by various organizations including World Vision Canada and the Grand Ballet of Canada for various art projects such as Christmas cards, poster and stamps. In 1994, 250 limited edition signed prints and 38,000 Christmas cards were reproduced of her Family Symphony original, by Teleglobe Canada to celebrate the International Year of the Family. The Auxiliary is selling raffle tickets in the Hospital's Treasure Cove Gift Shop as well as the Main Lobby Monday to Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The draw will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16.
