For his work on the Arrow episode of Smallville for Warner Bros. and the CW Network, Moxness has been nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in the episodic television series category. Also receiving nods for the award are Eagle Egilsson for Darkroom, CSI: Miami, Nathan Hope for Killer, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Bill Roe, for What If They Find Him, Day Break and Gale Tattersal for Meaning, House M.D. "These talented individuals have earned the admiration of their peers for their artistry in creating moving images that support the intentions of the script, the emotional flow of stories, and the performances," said ASC's Russ Alsobrook, who chairs the organization's awards committee. "It wasn't an easy decision for our members, who were impressed by the artistry of many cinematographers contending for this recognition." The ASC has been around since 1919 and has worked under the charter of advancing the evolving art and craft of telling stories with moving images. There are approximately 290 active members from all over the world today, and some 140 associate members from allied sectors of the industry. The 21st annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards are being held in Los Angeles on Feb. 18. Moxness continues to shoot Smallville in Vancouver until mid April. No Serenity and Stone March are two of 22 bands to enter the competition, and have been high in judge ratings. Event chair Ron Duquette says they could be fighting for top spot in the competition, which includes bands from Mississauga, Brampton and more. "We were quite shocked to receive a total of 22 entries for our first competition and we're totally knocked out by the caliber of talent that exists here in Mississauga and the surrounding area" said Duquette. "It certainly bodes well for the quality we anticipate for the final concert." Just 10 bands are left for the finals ­ the top three will walk away with cash and other prizes, in addition to having the opportunity to perform in front of recording industry professionals. The finals, slated for Sunday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. in Hammerson Hall at the Living Arts Centre, will be judged by celebrity judges and fan response. Other bands left in the competition include The Odysseys, As Is, The Stone Cutters, The Knockouts, Soul Nidus, The Grace Saints and The Steady Rollers from Mississauga. and Entertainment for the Masses from Brampton.
