www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday February 21, 2007 - 55 Final Friday at Sheridan College Sports Hall of Fame dinner Continued from page 48 opening-round victory over Bishop Reding. Setter Jaclyn Alderdice started the second game by serving up four straight to extend the run to 21 points. It finally came to an end when she served a bullet that was wide of the mark by inches. Twenty-one consecutive points against any team is impressive, but the Rams were certainly no pushover. Robinson finished 6-4 in a competitive West Division. And White Oaks was not simply lobbing serves over the net to put the ball in play. Throughout the run, the Wildcats were pounding hard line drives over the net. If there is one area where the Wildcats' inexperience showed, it may have been in their tendency to let their opponents back in a game. After three consecutive aces by Stack extended the Wildcats' second-game lead to 9-2, they allowed the Rams to narrow the margin to 12-9. White Oaks again pulled away to a 21-12 advantage, only to have Robinson take six of the next eight before the Wildcats finally put the match away. The Wildcats will have to avoid such letdowns today if they hope to face either Notre Dame or Nelson (the other semifinalists) in Friday's Halton final at Sheridan College. Five new members of the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame will be officially recognized at tomorrow's dinner and induction ceremony. Steve Christie, Michelle Houchen, Wayne Hussey, Pete (Cyclone) Taylor and Rob Zamuner comprise the 2007 class. The event, to be held at Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre, will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will follow at 7:30 p.m. Many past inductees will be in attendance, according to Oakville Sports Hall of Fame chair Bob Labbett, including Sandra Post, Vic Hatfield, Maria Jelinek, Dan Ferrone, Larry Cain, Phil Iafrati, John Base, Mike Morningstar and John Wood. Labbett said this year's dinner will feature the biggest turnout ever, but tickets are still available for $110 apiece.
