The Hannaford Street Silver Band event, which hosts groups from Toronto, Weston, Whitby, Ottawa and Buffalo, will be held at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts on Saturday, March 3. Intrada Brass will perform at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday as part of a day-long event that kicks off at 10 a.m. The Saturday night gala concert will be performed by the New York Staff Band of The Salvation Army, one of the world's great brass bands. They have performed all over North and South America, the Far East, Australasia and Europe in venues including Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall and The Sydney Opera House. Intrada Brass of Oakville was formed in 1995 to make recordings, four of which have been released and are now in worldwide circulation. Textile art exhibit opens at Abbozzo Gallery Confluence: Streams and Strands opens tomorrow at Oakville's Abbozzo Gallery. It's a new exhibition of contemporary textile work by Oakville's Jane Coryell, Ruth Luginbuehl and Lorraine Roy. The opening exhibition with the artists is Saturday, Feb. 24 from 2­5 p.m., and all are welcome. Confluence: Streams and Strands is held as part of the World of Threads Festival 2007, Oakville's Biennial Festival of Textile Arts. The exhibition runs at Abbozzo Gallery, 179 Lakeshore Rd.
