Aquinas swept through the roundrobin with wins over Don Mills (9-1), Bayview-Kingston (4-0), Haliburton (30) and Vanier-Hamilton (3-0). The Raiders were then doubled in the final, 6-3 by Erindale. Ellen Zurawell was a standout for Aquinas in the tournament, recording three shutouts. Cassandra Russo, Brittany Court, Kelly Burns, Guilia Martone and Jamie Perrin notched goals for the Raiders. Earning assists were Ali McInnis, Kelsey Kerr, Elisa Martone, Brittany Russo, Karin Salk, Jacqueline Peluso and Meaghan Urquhart. Kyla Garvey missed the tournament due to injury. The Raiders went 4-4 in Halton regular-season play. REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE Atom AA Rangers advance to OMHA semifinal After finishing the Tri-County regular season on a 10-game unbeaten run, the Oakville atom AA Rangers have managed to carry that momentum into the OMHA playdowns. Oakville has advanced to the OMHA semifinal round after winning all four of its games in the round-robin and all three of its contests in the second round versus Orangeville, though not all the team's victories came in easy fashion. The Rangers were extended into overtime in their third round-robin game by a hardworking Ancaster squad, but Oakville's Alex Cox notched the game-winner on a fine individual effort to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals for the Rangers. Oakville then outscored Orangeville, which placed third in Tri-County regular-season play, by an 11-5 margin in the three-game sweep. The Rangers will face the Stoney Creek Warriors in the OMHA semifinal. Stoney Creek was second in Tri-County league play this year, two points behind Oakville.
