www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday March 2, 2007 - 19 Special treat for early bird visitors to Purdy's Chocolatour display Chocolate lovers should unite at Oakville Place. To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Purdy's Chocolates are bringing their traveling exhibit the Chocolatour to town, showcasing the history of chocolate. The exhibit, which runs March 3 18, includes 10 larger-than-life sculptures, each used to portray a particular aspect of chocolate's history and manufacture. It begins with chocolate's use in the ancient cultures of Mexico and Central America, and moves to modern times where chocolate continues to flourish as an internationally recognized icon. Among the Chocolatour exhibits is a model of a Mayan Temple and a Spanish Galleon with authentic sails. A cocoa bean, split in half and open like a book, explains the harvesting of the beans and addresses world trade issues. Chocolatour also includes a giant stack of chocolates, equipped with screens and a four-minute video to show how chocolates are made with different centres. Everyone who visits the exhibit will have a chance to enter a contest to win a monthly gift from Purdy's Chocolate from Oakville Place for 12 months. Chocolatour will be located in the centre court of the mall and available for viewing during regular shopping hours, Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no charge for admission. What does the term "corrective skin care" this exactly mean? "corrective care" is generally in medical cosmetic A: The term such as in skindermatologist's offiused cosmetic surgeon's settings a ce, office or at a medical spa. This term was coined with the onset and popularity of cosmeceuticals. These are topical skin care programs or preparations that are either prescription based or use ingredients that are aimed to correct specific skin conditions. Typical ingredients found in these programs include Retin A, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Glycolic Acid and Hydroquinone, just to name a few. Most skin care programs that you can purchase over the counter aim to maintain healthy skin or work as preventative therapies. The options for the consumer are vast and offer minimal incremental corrective improvement. Corrective skin care programs managed by a physician are generally focused on how to correct specific skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, acne, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles. Some of these creams may have temporary side effects associated with initial use but eventually the skin builds a tolerance to the medicated ingredients and the skin is corrected. Caution should be used with these programs and you should be followed by a trained professional (skin expert) on a regular basis while using these products.
