The Canadian Cancer Society Oakville Unit hosted its annual kick off event on Feb. 28. Team captains, old and new, were there to find out what's new for 2007 -- and to register teams. The Relay for Life is a community celebration of survival -- a tribute to the lives of loved ones and a night of fun, friendship and fundraising to beat cancer. The inspiring event involves teams of ten or more people participating in an overnight, noncompetitive relay. Participants take turns walking, running or strolling around the track at Appleby College, event host. Oakville's Relay For Life will be Friday, June 1 at 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. Saturday, June 2. Each team that can raise a minimum of $300 per team member, a minimum of $3,000 per team and sell a minimum of three luminaries per team member by Thursday, May 24, will qualify as a Dream Team.
