The event is at 7 p.m. at the Galaxy 707, 475 North Service Rd. E. Guest speaker is Dr. Paul Connett, recently retired Professor Emeritus of Chemistry from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, who specializes in Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology. Over the past 22 years Connett's research on waste management has taken him to 49 U.S. states and 48 countries, where he has given over 2,000 pro bono public presentations. He has co-authored six peer-reviewed articles on dioxin and numerous other articles on waste management. Connett will be joined by Rod Muir, a waste diversion campaigner from the Sierra Club of Canada, and John Jackson, director of the Recycling Council of Ontario. Halton Region is currently preparing a business case for the EFW incinerator. It is scheduled to be finished some time this month. The proposed EFW incinerator is to be built at the Region's landfill on Bronte Road. The panel will answer questions from the audience and discuss waste disposal options. Thieves ransacked home before stealing Porsche Halton Regional Police are investigating a residential break and enter in Oakville. Shortly before 9 p.m. on March 12, thieves pried open a sliding door to a home on Allan St. and ransacked several rooms. Numerous items were stolen including jewellery, a 21-inch LCD television, cash and personal papers. Thieves also took the key to the homeowner's vehicle and stole the vehicle. Stolen car is a grey, 2001 Porsche 911 valued at $60,000. If you have any information that leads to an arrest in this or any other matter, you may be eligible for a cash reward.
