www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday March 16, 2007 - 13 Flowers Fight Cancer promotion Oakville Place and Sears are launching a Flowers Fight Cancer promotion from March 19 - April 9, giving participants a chance to win a backyard entertainment collection worth approximately $2,500. The `Complete Backyard Entertainment Collection' giveaway is an Oakville Place initiative to boost donations to the Canadian Cancer Society's Oakville unit in connection with its April Daffodil Days campaign. Last year, Oakville Place helped the Canadian Cancer Society's Oakville unit raise more than $40,000. "This year we wanted to build on the existing awareness of the upcoming Daffodil campaign in April, to really draw attention to this, make it more interactive and use a fun and exciting incentive to appeal to people's sense of giving and show appreciation for their donation," said Kim LaRonde, Marketing Director of Oakville Place. "Partnering with our Sears store, which has donated the `Complete Backyard Entertainment Collection', we were able to put together this very exciting fundraising event that we're calling `Flowers Fight Cancer'. We want people to come out, make a donation and fight cancer." The `Complete Backyard Entertainment Collection' will be delivered and set up at the home of the winner. The prize package consists of a 10 by 10 ft. garden gazebo, a barbeque, a cabana style seating set made up of a two-seater, plus two chairs and a coffee table and water feature, in addition to planters, outdoor lighting, décor elements and table wear. Beginning Monday, March 19, the collection will be on display in the centre court of Oakville Place. Ballots to enter the draw are available at the guest services kiosks and will be given out with every $6 and $10 donation, the cost of a single or double bunch of daffodils, respectively. To launch `Flowers Fight Cancer', and recognize the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Cancer Society's Oakville unit, a special cake cutting ceremony will take place at the `Complete Backyard Entertainment Collection' in centre court on Wednesday, March 21 at 12:15. All are welcome and cake will be served to customers following the ceremony. Cancer Society volunteers will begin selling daffodils at the `Complete Backyard Entertainment Collection' in centre court, on Wednesday, March 28 through Monday April 9.
