Cadogan wins regional free-throw title In her final year of eligibility for the Knights of Columbus free-throw competition, Ashara Cadogan made sure she went out on top. The 14-year-old local resident capped off a busy week of basketball earlier this month by winning the Southwestern Ontario regional championship, following all-Oakville and district victories the previous weekend. At regionals, Cadogan drained 15 of 25 shots and appeared on her way to certain victory, but the final competitor converted her last five shots to force a five-shot playoff. Cadogan's opponent went first, hitting two of five attempts. Cadogan was long on her first shot but then converted her next three, earning the win. She then quickly raced off to a tournament in Meadowvale, helping her Oakville Venom defeat Scarborough 55-52 and earn bronze at the Mississauga Monarchs senior girls' tournament. Cadogan was 12-of-15 to win the Oakville championship and hit 12 of 25 shots in the district finals. She has won three of the past five Oakville crowns and the last two district titles.
