Unfortunately with it come safety hazards for pets. Spring safely into the season with the following tips for your animals. When walking your dog near water, be aware of the dangers of thin ice that can break under its weight, extra water overflowing routes resulting from the meltdown and heavy rains, and fast currents: all pose significant danger. Dogs can jump or fall into the water and suffer from hypothermia or be quickly swept away. Stick to pathways. Dogs should also be kept from back yard covered pools, which can be easily walked on or fallen through. Natural dangers to pets come in many forms. Changes in barometric pressure, the noise and light during a thunderstorm can result in animals panicking and injuring themselves. Rain is the great spring refresher, but for animals with sensitive skin wet and muddy fur can be an irritant. Make sure your pet is dried off after being outdoors to avoid skin conditions. Pads of the feet can also be affected by the meltdown, getting soft; wearing more easily and becoming more sensitive once the snow is gone. When the weather does turn to brighter dry days, most of us use the outdoors to get more exercise. Pets, like people, need time to slowly get back in shape. Tune-ups to exercise programs should begin with a physical check up. Take your pet to the veterinarian for vaccinations. An annual rabies needle is important and is also the law. Wildlife carrying diseases transferable to pets pose a threat to domestic animals that have not been vaccinated. www.oakvillebeaver.com In Home Consultation 2555 Erin Centre Mississauga 905-542-0353 www.spaceageshelvingburlington.com www.spaceageshelving.ca Having a Wedding? avin ving dding?
